The Massachusetts Forward Party is bringing together people from across the political spectrum who believe our democracy works best when leaders put people over party. Our mission is to build an open and fair government that puts everyday people—not politics—first. Across the United States, many Americans have lost confidence in their government, and there is a growing sense that it is not answerable to the people it serves. In Massachusetts, residents are concerned about the increasing lack of government transparency. This election cycle, we identified key reforms that would improve government accountability and election integrity, and rated each U.S. Senate candidate according to their stance on each reform. Criteria for each rating are as follows:
- Good: Candidate has publicly indicated support, through voting records (if previously held a public office), interviews, articles, or inclusion of support on their platform as published on their website.
- Moderate: Candidate has privately indicated support directly to MA FWD, but has not issued any public-facing opinions. Candidate may have previously indicated support, but if previously held public office, did not vote to support the reform.
- Poor: Candidate has publicly opposed the reform as indicated through interviews, articles, or their platform.
- No Information: There was insufficient information available to assess the candidate’s views on this reform.
